First Baptist Weber City Family,

Update - March 18, 2020

  1. For the next two Sundays, we will have one service that will be only online at 10 A.M. on Facebook Live. I would ask that you gather with your family, watch, and worship with us.

  2. All other church activities are suspended throughout the week until March 31.

  3. We are working with our school officials to help deliver food to the sites they have set up and will continue to help in any way possible

  4. Our staff is reaching out to our seniors, 70 years old and up, to see if we can go out and pick up groceries, run errands, or anything you need.

  5. We are looking at other ways that we can help those in need in our community and we will keep you updated.

Some ways you can help:

  • Continue to pray for our nation, our leaders, nurses, doctors, EMS workers, our church family, pastors, and students (especially our seniors).

  • Continue to give financially

  1. Bring by the church and drop off

  2. Mail to church at 155 Shady Elm Lane, Weber City, VA 24290

  3. Set up bill pay through your local bank

  • Take this time to see how you can spend more time with your family and love your neighbor.

First Baptist Weber City Family,

Update Monday March 16, 2020

1.     Our staff will be personally calling our Seniors, Widows, & Widowers who are age 70 and older to see if we can serve in a couple of ways:

  • Picking up groceries

  • Urgent household supplies

  • Prepare meals to deliver

2.     We are waiting to hear from Scott County Schools and those schools particularly close to us on how we can help distribute food to our students in our area. They should let us know something after they meet tomorrow.

3.     I am planning to do an online Bible Study on Wednesday night at 7 pm that will be on Facebook live.  I'll be speaking from Romans 8 (More than Conquerors)

First Baptist Weber City Family,

This morning I met with our leadership and staff about our plan of action for the days ahead and are closely monitoring official updates regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) as it impacts Scott County and our surrounding community.

We have decided to have all our worship services tomorrow. We are taking extra precautions to make sure our church facilities are clean, sanitized, and safe. I have asked Dr. Steve Adkins to address concerns of the Coronavirus in each of our services. We are encouraging those who are sick, those with higher risk, and the elderly to stay home. We will have our services live on Facebook and we ask you to join us there.

For those who choose to attend our services, here are some things you need to know:

Changes to Services:

  • Three worship services at 9:00 am, 11:15 am, and 1:00 pm (North Campus)

  • No Sunday School

  • No Nursery, Preschool, or Children’s Church

In an attempt to cut down the spread of germs, other changes for Sunday include:

  • No Handshaking

  • No Breakfast

  • No Bulletins

  • We will not pass the offering plate in our service, but will ask you to give your offering when you exit the worship center

  • Greeters will be opening the doors for you

  • Church will be cleaned again between services

  1. If you are unable to attend, please consider bringing your offering to our office this week or you can mail it to the church.

  2. We will be live streaming the service on Facebook Live:

  3. Effective this Sunday, all other regularly scheduled ministry activities and programs for both campuses are suspended until further notice. This includes Wednesday night activities and the use of our Family Life Center.

  4. We are evaluating plans for future worship schedules and will keep you posted.

  5. We are working with our school system and others in our community to determine how our church can best serve and minister to them. As needs arise within the community, our staff will communicate with you on how you can help and be involved. Be sure to check your email and social media outlets, as we will update regularly.

I would ask that you please pray for me, your staff, and leadership as we seek to lead our congregation with wisdom.  Please know that the precautions we are taking this week, and any further precautions we take in the future, will not be taken by fear but rather out of love. One of the best ways we can love each other right now is by doing what we can to keep each other physically healthy.  Along the way, we’ll also stay committed to keeping each other spiritually encouraged.
