January 24: The Hope of Forgiveness

"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, everyone, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:5-6

Paul declared, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief." (1 Timothy 1:15) I think we all know that Christ came to save sinners, but we must also see ourselves as Paul saw himself, we are the worst. Seeing ourselves this way is not to beat us down and live in shame, but to realize that there was absolutely nothing we could do to remove the guilt and stain of our sin.

On the cross, all of our sins were laid on Jesus. He completely and forever paid the debt for all those who trust in Him for salvation. The amazing sacrifice of love that Christ made on the cross and the fulfillment of His promise of the resurrection give us the confident hope of eternal life. Nothing in our past, present or future can take away this gift.

Renewal Principle

Sin holds no power over the forgiven child of God and cannot rob us of our hope for the future.
